Codes Of Conduct

Rules and Policies

Introduction

Purton Football Club (the Club) always puts the health, safety and well being of all its members as a first priority. To enhance this thought process, the Club has produced a set of conduct codes and policies, which all members are expected to read, understand and therefore behave appropriately.

The Club attempts to promote the highest standards of behaviour, fair play and sportsmanship. A "win at all costs" attitude is discouraged. The club prides itself on the behaviour of all its members. All players, spectators, parents and club officials are expected to represent the club in a positive manner and to ensure that the clubs name is in no way tarnished due to bad or unruly behaviour.

Practises and procedures have been developed to build and evolve standards in terms of conduct of players, coaches, club officials, spectators, parents and match officials. These Codes of Conduct are designed to ensure that the club's reputation is enhanced and maintained and that everyone enjoys their involvement with football.

By producing these policies and codes of conduct the Club is stating what is and is not expected from anybody associated with the Club. These policies and codes have been introduced for the benefit of everyone associated with the Club.

The adoption of these rules, policies and codes of conduct are seen as vital to the future of the Club.

Child protection is high on the list of the Club's priorities. Football can have a powerful influence on children and young people. This means that everyone involved in football must take on the responsibility of looking after those children who choose to play the game of Association Football. Children should be allowed to enjoy the game without abuse of any kind. This means bullying, physical, emotional or sexual abuse and neglect.

Team spirit and team support is promoted for everyone within the Club. Sportsmanship is promoted and considered fundamental to the present and future of the Club. Bad sportsmanship of any kind will not be tolerated and will be dealt with as deemed applicable. Dissent with any match officials will be particularly be frowned upon. Match Officials will not amend any decision and they will simply be antagonised. Any player displaying an unsporting behaviour, poor code of conduct or violation of club rules or policies will be immediately substituted during the game of play. While representing the Club, all members are required to conduct themselves accordingly.

The Club is totally committed to each and every member that represents the Club irrespective of the success of any individual or team. Football is for everyone. Football is our national sport and it is the responsibility and duty of the Club to develop each and every member to fulfil their potential as footballers and as people. In terms of youth football, it is important that all members enjoy the game, and to develop as individuals who will become model citizens within the community. Being part of the Club helps the youth to develop many skills that are part of growing up and developing. To achieve these objectives, the Club relies on many people involved within the Club. Each and every member has equal importance, from the Club Chairman to a volunteer who provides refreshments. However, to implement these objectives as efficiently and effectively as possible, guidelines have been implemented that every member must accept as their responsibility. It is intended that these policies contribute to increase and maintain standards within the Club which will affect all members' attitudes to football and life within the community.

In line with the Football Association, a clear indication of our policies, namely our standards of staff, players, parents / spectators, anti discrimination, equal opportunities and our complaints and grievance procedure has been published for the benefit of all members. Our constitution, club rules, codes of conduct and policies are regularly reviewed and amended where appropriate.
