Match Report:

Shaw and Purton resumed battle in their cup quarter final with a replay after the previous weeks 1-1 draw. Purton were looking to put their recent disappointing league form behind them by progressing to the semi finals. Purton started brightly, creating pressure from the first whistle. Purton created some early chances but were unable to score in the early exchanges. Midway through the first half, Adam Corcoran pushed up from the back, and managed to squeeze the ball into the goal through a packed penalty area, 1-0. Purton began to push forward, attempting to increase their lead and eventually made it 2-0, when Kieran O'Driscoll beat the Shaw goalkeeper in a 1 v 1. Half time 0-2.

The second half saw Purton come under pressure with Shaw fighting to stay in the cup. The early exchanges saw Shaw create most of the chances and only some good defending and brave goalkeeping from Michael Farage kept Shaw at bay. Shaw came close on several occasions but were unable to score. As the half wore on, Purton began to create some chances and Marcus Welch scored two goals to make the final score 0-4. Hard luck to Shaw....Congratulations Purton
