Match Report:

In their second game of the new season Purton had a tough away game to Shaw. Purton were looking to get their first points after the previous weeks defeat.

The game began at a frantic pace with attacking opportunities at both ends. Purton fell behind to an early goal from Shaw with a shot from an acute angle. Purton responded brightly and were rewarded with an equaliser from Josh Harper after some good build up play involving Jamie Baker and Ryan Norman. Shaw scored again with a left foot strike to beat the goalie at the near post. Half time 2-1.

Purton started the second half looking for an opportunity to get back in the game. Again the play was from end to end but with good defending and more pressure from the Purton attack. After going close on a few occasions, Kieran O'Driscoll swept the ball home at the near post to grab a deserved equaliser.

Play continued to switch from end to end with good chances for both sides, but neither team were able to add to their earlier goals. Final score 2-2.

Coaches comments :

"Great character again from the lads. For the second week running we were behind at half time, but I thought the lads played really well in the second half. They thoroughly deserved something out of today's game and could have even snatched a win. Good to get our first point of the season, especially against one of the tougher teams in the league. The way they played today I don't think it will be long before we win our first game."
