Purton

1-7 (0-5)

Trowbridge Town Youth

 Josh Harper

Match Report:

Purton played their first game in the Wiltshire County Cup with a tough home game against Towbridge Town Youth.

Purton were 3-0 behind after a hat trick from Tom Mackinder of Trowbridge within 12 minutes and Purton never really recovered. Tom Mackinder added two more goals for Trowbridge to leave the half time score 5-0.

With nothing to lose now, after the break Purton stepped up a gear and started to edge their way back into the game.  They grabbed an early second half goal through Josh Harper. Purton were much more involved in the game now and at least were making a game of it. Chances were being created at both ends of the field. Unfortunately Purton were unable to add to their early second half goal and conceded two more goals to leave the final score 7-1.

Purton wish Trowbridge Town all the best in the cup. Good luck

Coaches comments :

"It was a difficult game for us, made more difficult by conceding 3 early goals. In the second half we played much better, and at least made a game of it. I was proud of the lads in the second half. They have great character and never give up. It is our first defeat since the opening day. Some you win, some you lose."
