Match Report:

Purton's second home game of the season, and their fifth league game, saw them playing a return fixture against Shrivenham & Watchfield. Shrivenham had been the only team to beat Purton so far this season. Purton were looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

From the opening whistle, Purton played some good football and were soon creating chances. Midway through the half, a fine through ball creating a chance for Kieran O'Driscoll. Kieran kept a cool head in a one v one to give Purton a 1-0 lead. Shortly afterwards, Kieran was again in the same position and produced the same result...2-0. Shortly before the half time whistle, Shrivenham scored to leave the game finely balanced for the second half.

The second half mirrored the first half with chances at both ends. Purton defended well, with some last ditch clearances from Simon Randlesome. With only minutes remaining, Purton were awarded a free kick from outside the box. Dale Crabbe swung the free kick over to a gleeful Kieran O'Driscoll, who squeezed in a shot from a tight angle to complete his hat trick and give Purton all three points.

Coaches comments :

"Terrific game, and a good result for us. This game was already a six pointer. We needed to win today. If Shrivenham had won, they would have been seven points ahead of us already, but we have narrowed the gap to one point. Some great defending today and some clinical finishing from Kieran. Unbeaten now in four games. We have given ourselves a solid platform to build on. Keep it up lads."
