Match Report:
Purton began the game very slowly and were
1-0 down after the first attack in the first minute. Two more goals
quickly followed for Ferndale to take a commanding 3-0 lead. After a
quick formation change, Purton pulled a goal back through Kieran
O'Driscoll. Ferndale regained their three goal cushion. But again Kieran
O'Driscoll scored an important goal before the break to reduce the
arrears to two goals. Half time...2-4.
Purton needed to show their character in the
second half and knew they needed to improve their defending and
finishing. In the first five minutes of the second half, Purton created
three clear chances but were unable to convert. Eventually Purton made
the break through and reduced the arrears through Josh Harper. Purton
began to pour forward in search of an equaliser. They were now looking
dangerous and looking like scoring with good flowing football. Purton
equalised with a goal from Dale Crabbe and then took the lead with Ross
Fenner's first goal for the club. Before the game finished, Kieran
O'Driscoll completed another hat trick before Adam Corcoran completed
the scoring for Purton. Final
score 7-4.
