Match Report:

Purton played their first league game in 5 weeks with a tough away fixture against title chasing Malmesbury. The game started brightly with chances created at both ends. Purton went close early in the game with a shot from Edgar Espinosa which came back of the near post. Purton confidence has recently returned and was reflected with their confident passing. Purton were unable to turn their pressure into goals and fell behind midway through the half with a good goal from Malmesbury. Malmesbury added another goal before the half time to make it 2-0.

The second half continued with both teams playing good football and showing good sportsmanship towards each other. Purton changed to a more attacking formation and began to create more chances. Malmesbury were able to capitalise on Purtons attacking nature and further increased their lead...3-0. Purton responded in a positive manner and continued to create chances. Ryan Norman went close with a long shot which just went over the bar. Purton went close on a couple of other occasions but were unable to score until the final closing minutes. Good build up play and a cross from Kieran O'Driscoll saw Josh Harper fire home at the far post to make the final score 3-1.....Congratulations Malmesbury

Coaches comments :

"I was pleased with today's performance and especially pleased with their attitude. They never gave up and continued to try to play passing football. I am encouraged by the fact that I can see things which can be coached to improve their individual and team performance. I though it was a good game from both sides and was played how a kids football game should be played."
