Ferndale Rodbourne

3-3 (2-3)

Purton

  George Ffoulkes (2)
Edgar Espinosa

Match Report:

Purton were looking to build on their win from the previous week and again started quickly scoring an early goal through George Ffoulkes. This lead was soon increased when Edgar Espinosa scored his first goal of the season after successfully beating the Ferndale keeper in a one v one situation.

Midway through the half Purton's lead was reduced when Ferndale beat the off side trap and scored with a right foot shot. Purton continued to create chances and restored their two goal cushion when George Ffoulkes added to his earlier goal with a left foot strike squeezed in from a tight angle. With the seconds of the first half counting down, Purton just fired wide after a sweeping move from their own goalkeeper. From the resulting break, Ferndale scored to make the half time score 3-2.

In the second half, Purton continued to create chances but were unsuccessful, with several chances being saved or missed. As the half passed, Purton themselves begun to come under increasing pressure. With only minutes left, Ferndale grabbed an equaliser to make the full time score 3-3.

Purton Man of The Match:

Coaches comments :

"The game started very quickly like the previous week. It was a shame to concede a goal seconds before half time which gave Ferndale a lift for the second half. I think that the boys will learn a few lessons from this game. It stretches our unbeaten run now to three games which is pleasing. "
