Purton man of the match : Kieran O'Driscoll |

Match Report :The new season began with a great game that was always end to end and full of excitement. Both teams played in the true spirit of Mini Soccer with the refs whistle only being heard on a few occasions emphasising the flow of the game. Ferndale broke the deadlock early in the first half with a neat goal from Daniel Drewitt, the joy clearly etched on the young faces of the Ferndale boys. Purton responded by increasing their pressure and creating openings with some neat, tidy passing. Towards the end of the first half Kieran O'Driscoll finally made the breakthrough to score Purton's first goal of the season. Time for the Purton boys to celebrate. As the half time approached, Kieran O'Driscoll added to his earlier goal to give Purton the lead...half time. The second half started at a frantic pace with Ferndale pouring forward in numbers to eventually and deservedly score an equaliser....game on. Ferndale made the most of their pressure to quickly add another two goals to take a 4 - 2 lead. The young lads of Purton kept their heads held high, never letting the score get them down. As the pressure grew from Purton, Kieran O'Driscoll completed his hat tick to pull Purton back into the game. Tick, tock, tick, tock, the minutes were counting down quickly but Purton kept going and with less than a minute to go, Kieran O'Driscoll snatched an equaliser to send all of the Purton guys into raptures....full time.
