Purton man of the match :

Match Report :

Purton Cubs were looking to end the season on a high with a win. Despite windy conditions, the pitch was perfect for playing good football. Purton made a slow start to the first half without creating many clear cut chances. Despite some solid defending, Purton ended the first half 2 - 0 down.

The second half saw a tactical change for Purton changing from 2 midfielders and 2 forwards to 3 midfielders and 1 forward. Purton now began to enjoy the lion's share of possession and began to create chances. A goal seemed inevitable. After five minutes Josh Harper pulled a goal back after some good build up play between Dale, Kieran and Shannon. A few minutes later Dale Crabbe equalised after a cross from the wing by Josh Harper. Purton were now continually pressing forward creating chance after chance. Dale Crabbe again scored with a one v one which he drilled into the Shaw goal. Shaw equalised soon after again through a one v one. Purton's character was again put to the test, and through their determination they eventually scored through Shannon Pocock to make the final score 4 - 3.

Coaches comments :

"The boys showed great character in the second half coming from 2 - 0 down to win. The second was so exciting to watch for both teams. I thought every player played well today and each and every boy deserved to be Man of the Match. It was good to finish the season with a win. I am looking forward to the festival of football and Butlin's next week and I am already looking forward to next season."
