Match Report :Purton Cubs were looking to continue their winning run with a tough game against Ferndale. Purton were slow out of the blocks and were soon under pressure. Against the run of play Josh Harper went close with a shot saved by the Ferndale keeper. Minutes later Ferndale took the lead with a powerful left foot drive, 0 - 1. Before Purton could get back into the game, Ferndale added two more goals to increase their lead to 3 - 0. As the first half was nearing the end, Purton gave themselves a chance to get back into the game when Josh Harper scored with a right foot shot, half time 1 - 3. After a half time team talk, Purton came alive and began to create chances and went close on several occasions. Eventually Kieran O'Discoll scored at the far post after a run and cross from Dale Crabbe. Against the run of play, Ferndale scored to restore their two goal cushion. Purton again came back at Ferndale and went close to scoring when Kieran O'Driscoll played a great through ball for Ryan Norman to run on to and hit a sizzling shot which just scraped the post. As the game was drawing to a close, Ferndale again scored to win the game 5 - 2. Well done Ferndale. |

Coaches comments :"The first half was disappointing, the boys took a long time to get going, but they played much better in the second half and made a real challenge to get something out of the game. We were 3 - 0, before they got going and it was always going to be difficult to come back from that, but the boys have a great spirit and are never give in until the final whistle. The pleasing thing for me today, was some of the pass and movement. When they do it, they play some good football."& |
