Match Report :Purton Cubs started the first of two weekend games against a strong Brunel Boys team. The Brunel lads were much physically bigger than the Purton lads who were forced to battle for every ball. The Purton lads stood up to the test well and never gave an inch despite the physical indifference. Midway through the half Giorgio Wrona managed to give Purton the lead with a well taken shot underneath the Brunel goalkeeper...1 - 0. Within a few minutes Brunel equalised to leave the half time score all level. The second half was again a battle for the Purton lads and at times the play became a bit ragged but there was also some good team play at times. There were few clear cut chances with most of the play being battled in the center of the pitch. Final score 1 - 1. |

Coaches comments :"The boys had a tough game today but I thought that they battled well, and deserved a draw. Brunel won't loose many games and I thought that the midfield did well against much bigger opponents."
