Match Report :Purton Cubs went in search of their first win of the season with a tough fixture against Swindon Badgers The game was played at a fast and furious pace with the Purton lads under instruction to "pass and move". Although the Purton defence was kept busy the early exchanges looked promising for Purton. The benefits of training were begining to show as Purton tried to move the ball around the pitch. Purton applied pressure throughout the course of the first half without ever really threatening the Badgers goal. Eventually the Purton defence sucumbed to Badgers pressure when an angled shot was just out of Simon Randlesomes reach, unfortunately there was nothing the young goalkeeper could do. Half time 0 - 1. The second half started where the first half finshed with plenty of attacking from both sides. Although there were few clear cut chances the action constantly switched from one goal to the other. As Purton tried to force their way back into game, Badgers broke away to score with a left foot shot into the far corner of the Cubs net...0 - 2. Purton tried in vain to score but time ran out to leave the cubs beaten for only the second time this season.

Coaches comments :"It was disappointing to loose but I thought my two defenders Chris and Alex were superb today. I can see improvements on a week to week basis in all the players and more importantly as a team. The thing that pleased me this week was that although they did not always find a player with their passes at least they were trying to pass more today.I just hope that they continue to learn and improve."
