Match Report :Purton Cubs were looking to get back to winning ways after the previous weeks defeat. From the whistle, Purton began to knock the ball about well and looked like it would only be a matter of time before the first goal. On several occasions, Chris Stewart and Kieran O'Driscoll linked up well, but could not finish off their passing and movement with a goal. After 10 minutes, Purton finally made the break through when a corner from Josh Harper went straight into the goal, 1 - 0. This was soon followed by a second goal, again from a corner from Josh Harper, this time Ryan Norman connecting with the corner to slam the ball into the back of the net, 2 -0. From a quick throw in by Shannon Pocock, Kieran O'Discoll beat the last defender and hit a right foot shot into the bottom corner, 3 - 0. Before half time, Chris Stewart half volleyed another Josh Harper corner into the goal to make the half time score 4 - 0. Straight from the second half kick off, Purton went in search of goals, Josh Harper scoring his second with a 1 V 1 against the Ashton Keynes goalkeeper, 5 - 0. From an Ashton Keynes corner, Chris Stewart headed out to Josh Harper, who then beat 3 men and squared the ball to Shannon Pocock, from the return pass, Josh Harper scored to complete his hat trick, 6 - 0. A Chris Stewart goal kick went straight through to Kieran O'Driscoll who then calmly slotted the ball home, 7 - 0. This was soon followed by a Ryan Norman pass from deep in his own half to Shannon Pocock who then scored with a right foot shot, 8 - 0. A goal mouth scramble lead to Kieran O'Discoll completing his hat trick, 9 - 0. After some good build up play from Chris Stewart and a clever flick from Kieran O'Driscoll, Josh Harper completed the scoring, final score 10 - 0.

Coaches comments :"I am pleased with a big score and win, but more importantly, some of the build up play today was excellent, especially in the first half. Ashton Keynes goalkeeper was hurt before the game and was unable to play, we wish him a speedy recovery. I was pleased with the lads response after the previous weeks defeat. Hopefully we can keep up this performance level for the remainder of the season." |
